Kerry & Nathan’s Engagement Session @ Fern Ridge

I really love when couples are super prepared for their engagement sessions! Kerry and Nathan had ideas, props, examples from other photographers, and a perfect location picked out for the shoot. We had a really good time reading, picnicking, traveling, climbing ladders, playing guitar, and smelling flowers. All in all, a great afternoon. The weather cooperated perfectly and we had sun in spring in Oregon.

Be on the lookout for part 2 of this photo session. I hear rumors that Nathan is going to acquire some shorter hair and perfectly manicured face before an indoor photo session…

Lauren & Dominic Wedding @ Portland Art Museum

This was a seriously difficult blog post, way too many images to choose from. This wedding was beautiful, the bridal party was awesome, the bride and groom were incredible, and every amazing detail was taken care of by Vibrant Table. I did my best to keep this blog post manageable as far as number of photos go.

Thanks to Lev for sending these great clients my way! Lauren and Dominic hired me while they were living in South Korea. We didn’t meet until the wedding day!

Jamie & Jason’s Engagement Session ::: Oregon Wedding Photographer

Before I got the chance to even photograph this great couple, I knew that their wedding was going to be a blast! Jamie & Jason were easy-going during the photo shoot (which makes my job so much easier and the results are always better) and fun to be around. We got to talk plenty, laugh quite a bit, hang out next to abandoned semi-truck trailers, and we were even offered sugar packets that were apparently for sale by a guy that had just been released from prison. Seriously, this guy wouldn’t leave us alone. Jason and I were both a bit on edge, ready to protect our loved ones. Jason: ready to protect Jamie. Me: ready to protect some Canon gear. Haha! All in a day’s work. Or should I say, all in a 2-hour photo session.

Carole & Jacob’s Maternity Shoot

I got to photograph two of my best friends a couple of weeks ago at Clearwater Park in Springfield for couple’s maternity shoot. Alex & Duncan’s Wedding @ The DAC

Being only two days difference between this wedding and Rachel’s due date, this wedding made us a bit nervous to book. But, having great backup photographers we can rely on if needed (and thankfully we have never needed a backup) and having a bride that loved our work and wanted us despite the risk made all the difference in the world. Glad to report that Rachel had our baby a bit early and the timing couldn’t have been better. Newborn at home, wife at home, and a wedding to photograph.

Alex and Duncan picked a great indoor location: The DAC. We had a good time using the facility to capture some interesting and non-traditional images. There was plenty of fun to be had at this wedding and the bridal party definitely went for it. Plenty of laughs, many funny moments, and a very sincere and to-the-point ceremony made for an awesome evening.

And, a huge thanks to Sam for assisting me on this one. We used a lot of off-camera flash to make things look as natural as possible here. Really tough lighting, but hopefully it all looks natural even though we had to work for it.

Ali & Sam’s Engagement Session

I normally try to only post 6-8 shots from an engagement session, but this couple just made things easy for me. I always love when my subjects make my job enjoyably simple. It’s a good thing that most of them do!

Ali and Sam are quite the couple. And this was quite the photo session. We ended up getting snowed out on day 1 halfway through the shoot, so we rescheduled the rest for a bit later. And, the second day was a strong contrast to the first. Day 1 we battled some really cold temperatures, frozen fingers, a bit of rain, and a ton of snow. Day 2 we battled sunshine, and at least one person on the shoot got to skate.

Jayme & Russ Portrait Session

One great thing about being a photographer is getting to know other photographers and every once in a while trading services. Recently, Rachel and I got to hang out with the radical Jayme & Russ of Harvest Moon Photography! We shot photos of them and they shot photos of us. Had some coffee, walked around a bit, photographed like crazy, and went out for burgers after. Yes, our jobs are awesome, mostly because of the people we get to work with regularly.

Frances & Trenton’s New Year’s Eve Wedding

This was quite the wedding, one of my favorites of 2011! What a way to end the year! My first ever Greek Orthodox Wedding followed by an incredible New Year’s Eve Extravaganza at Laurelwood Golf Course in Eugene. The church was really unique and the ceremony was even more so. Everything in their ceremony had such great symbolism. I love that stuff! And having almost two hours between ceremony and reception was awesome. We went over to the Secret Garden B&B on campus and had the place to ourselves to shoot portraits. Then, off to Laurelwood for the party of all parties.

A big thanks to Jerry Rainey for some incredible 2nd photographer work during the reception. Some times things don’t go according to plan, and it’s nice to have a photographer with a backup plan and a backup plan to the backup plan. Haha! And then it all turns out great, just ask Frances and Trenton, they’ll agree.

Becky & Matt’s Wedding @ Bethesda Lutheran

Poet Family

Another great family session from the last couple of weeks! I headed up to the Poet’s family farm just outside of Dexter/Lowell to get some family photos before the holidays. We kept the photo session short and had a lot of fun, as you’ll see in some of the images.
